2009 VSBA Green Schools Challenge Winners

 

                Nine school divisions receive top awards in the 2009 VSBA Green Schools Challenge. Winners were announced at the VSBA Annual Convention, at the Opening General Session on November 18 in Williamsburg. The competition was sponsored by Moseley Architects and TRANE. Winning school divisions were selected from over 51 entries, and 30 school divisions were recognized as certified green school divisions.  Patrick County Public Schools placed third in its division and has been named a "Certified Green School Division".

          The VSBA Green Schools Challenge is a friendly competition designed to encourage implementation of specific environmental policies and practical actions that reduce the carbon emissions generated by both the local school division and the broader community. This is the first year the awards were given out.
